Graffiti: Social Expressions of Athens

Athens isn't Berlin or Buenos Aires, but its walls speak. A walk through Psyrri, Exarchia, and Kerameikos through the lens of street art as social commentary.

Graffiti is a social expression. The street art reflects the thoughts of society in general. By observing them, we can grasp the social sentiment at the grass-roots level.

Athens is not as renowned as Berlin, Buenos Aires, or New York for street art — but it has no shortage of it. The neighbourhoods of Psyrri, Exarchia, and Kerameikos in central Athens, and Nea Ionia further out, are where most of it lives.
